We’re not even three whole months into the new year, but already some significant trends in music are showing us that 2012 is a whole new year. To see this clearly, you have to look back at the entire year 2011: its stars, its top hits, its public dramas and scandals. You have to get inside the mind of the year that was to appreciate the year that is. It’s still very early in 2012, but we can definitely tell something is afoot in the kinds of sounds people are going for now versus then.
